The creation of the Toxic Dump section of our web site began after our home was severely damaged by the DEP mandated sewer installation. Amidst trying to receive reparation for our home, we learned of the health risks that our community and other surrounding communities were living with from not only the toxic waste dumping by McAdoo Associates, but by the toxic waste dumping of fly ash and river dredge. We were made to understand that "we, the people", are prohibited from contaminating the mine with our waste, but "Industry" is allowed to legally contaminate the mines with their waste. Laws allowing "toxic" waste to be regarded as "safe and beneficial" were lobbied for and changed in the early 1990´s by Industry to benefit Industry. These laws need to be changed back in favor of human life. We are no longer "none the wiser"; ignorant of the monumental adverse affects Industry is allowed to impose on our health. Don’t let them insult our intelligence.
Fly ash dumping is presently justified by these laws. Even though fly ash is prohibited by EPA from entering into the atmosphere via a smokestack, it is allowed to blow into the air during transport and allowed to further contaminate our environment by being directly dumped into it. This is hypocrisy at its very best. And river dredge is quite simply soil that contains years and years of unrestrained/unregulated Industrial toxic waste.
The red flag goes up for me when I hear that communities are being paid to take it. My common sense tells me that if something is so good and so safe then why aren´t we "buying" it. Profiteers of the stripping pits should be made to implode and backfill at their expense; not fill their pockets and pits with toxic waste at our expense.
Our government is forgetting that it is "of the people, by the people, for the people" and we are letting them. Please select a page from the left under TOXIC DUMP such as TOXIC NEWS.
